Ata Health evaluated a large-format virtual learning series led by a multilateral health organization’s regional office in Africa to strengthen mpox case management during a widespread epidemic. The ECHO initiative convened thousands of frontline clinicians and public health officials across the region to improve diagnosis, clinical care, infection prevention, and outbreak response capacity in real time. Ata Health designed the monitoring and evaluation framework, developed study instruments, and implemented a mixed-methods evaluation to assess reach, engagement, and outcomes. The evaluation examined differences in knowledge uptake and practice change between countries actively responding to mpox outbreaks and those focused on preparedness. Findings were used to inform ongoing program delivery and regional strategy, and the work resulted in a peer-reviewed manuscript contributing to the evidence base on large-scale virtual workforce development during public health emergencies.
